Access to the markets
The markets can be accesssed via three points – through either side of Queen Elizabeth Terrace and from the pathway leading up to John Dunmore Lang Place / Reconciliation Place.
The entry via the Questacon car park through Reconciliation Place and down the ramp is best for mobility devices, and the carpark has a kerb ramp.
If parking can be found on Parkes Place West, the pathway along Queen Elizabeth Terrace can be used to get to the markets, this is flat and has a kerb ramp.
Best time to visit
For finding parking close to the markets, and a quieter experience in the markets, the best time to visit is when it opens at 9am.
Grounds within the markets
The market stalls line the wide cement road and pathways, all stalls can be visited with a mobility device. The other areas with childrens crafts and mats are flat grassed surfaces.
There are two seating areas, one is centrally located on the cement overlooking the water that can accommodate prams and wheelchairs easily with wide open spaces. The other are mats on the grasssed areas.
Location of toilets
The toilets are located around 50m away along the cement pathway. The toilets are wheelchair accessible. The side handlers are in each toilet, one left and one right. Further toilets are located up near the Questacton Carpark to avoid the need to return to the central area.
Parking
In the Questacon carpark, there are 440 spaces, opposite this carpark is the Library with 330 spaces. The Mall Road West has roughly 20 spaces. These car parks lead directly onto the pedestrian cement pathways with kerb ramps.
